Stock Configuration & Condition: The three piece stock has a straight grip with a finger groove, metal nose caps, barrel band with sling loop, sling well, and a metal & hard rubber buttplate with an attached sling bar. When flipped up a second smaller elevation adjustable aperture is used on the sight ladder. The rear sight is a fixed aperture in the down position. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade between two protective ears. This is an Indian, Ishapore Rifle Factory mark.īarrel Length: Approximately 20 ½ inches to the end of the flash hider. The base of the bayonet blade is marked “R.F.I”. The interior of the sling is marked “MEC 1943”. There are a few other small stampings on the rifle The barrel band is marked “M 47 A” and with an “arrow head”. The bottom of the magazine is also marked with faded “numbers”. The bottom of the forearm and bottom of the magazine have been restamped with the serial number. The rear of the bolt handle is marked with the serial number. The rear of the receiver has partial stampings on it. The right front of the receiver is marked with a faded “crowned” stamping”. The left side of the receiver is marked (faded) “No5 MK1 ROF (F) / 5/46 V 9283”. The barrel shank (under the wood) is marked with inspection stamps. Markings: The import mark on the barrel reads “NO.5 MK.1.
